Lithuanian poet, translator and essayist, Vilnius editor-in-chief. An atypical voice which reverberates through Lithuanian poetry and counters linguistic and symbolic conventions. His poems are rooted in Lithuanian culture and intertwined with European history and literary canon. Winner of the Poetry Spring Festival Oak Leaf Garland, Lithuania’s most prestigious poetry award (2012).

He translated the poems of i.a. Wisława Szymborska, Zbigniew Herbert and Jacek Podsiadło into Lithuanian. His poems have been translated into i.a. English, French, German, Polish, Russian, Swedish and Finnish. Author of poems (i.a. Dievakaulis (1999, God’s Bone), Iš neparašytų istorijų (2002, From Stories Unwritten, Exemplum (2006)) essay collections (Vaizdijantis žmogus (1998, An Imaginative Human) and Dioniso sugrįžimas (2001, The Return of Dionysus)).

Lives and works in Vilnius.
