born 1962, is a literary scholar and critic, professor at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. His essays have appeared in such magazines and journals as Tygodnik Powszechny, Znak, Kresy and Res Publica Nowa. He is the author and co-author of a number of books on contemporary literature, including Literatura polska 1976–1998 (Polish Literature 1976-1998, with P. Czapliński, 1999) and Przygoda z wolnością (Taking an Adventure with Freedom, 2002). Most recently he has published Świat na brudno. Szkice o poezji i krytyce (A World in Drafts. Essays on Poetry and Criticism, 2007). He serves as curator of the international poetry festival „Poznań Poetów” and head of the panel of judges of the Gdynia Literary Prize (since 2006). He is the recipient of the Kazimierz Wyka Prize (2008) awarded for literary criticism, essays and works in history of literature.
