Novelist, literary critic, essayist, literary historian, graphic designer, PhD, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Languages of the University of Gdańsk, lecturer at the University of Gdańsk. He publishes his articles in international magazines: German, Swedish, and English-language ones, as well as in the Polish press. Winner of many prestigious awards and distinctions, such as the Kościelski Award, the Andreas-Gryphius Prize, and the Polish PEN Club Award. He received Polityka’s Passport for his novel Hanemann published in 1995. He was honoured with the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. He lives in Gdańsk. As an academic scholar, he deals with Romanticism and Romantic inspirations in contemporary literature (in Witold Gombrowicz’s works, among others). In his novels, he often alludes to Friedrich Nietzsche’s ideas.
