Isabelle Macor


(born in 1958)

Translator, essayist, poet and author of short stories. An expert in Polish literature, with academic interests revolving around contemporary poetry. She defended her doctoral thesis entitled Polish Poetry and French Poetry after World War II – two concepts of reality, around the central figure of Czesław Miłosz at the Sorbonne University. Professor of French language and literature at the Alliance Française de Paris International School, where she opened a literary creative studio. She has lived and worked abroad numerous times, including in the United Kingdom, the former Soviet Union, Israel, Morocco and Poland.

She has been translating Polish literature for many years. The list of her translations of Polish literature published in France includes works by Wisława Szymborska, Ewa Lipska, Stanisław Grochowiak, Halina Poświatowska, Jerzy Harasymowicz, Miron Białoszewski, Maciej Niemec, Urszula Kozioł, Krzysztof Siwczyk, Bożena Keff, Piotr Sommer, Jakub Kornhauser and Justyna Bargielska.
