Kholoud Charaf


Poet, art critic and journalist. In 2003 she graduated medical laboratory technician studies at the University of Damascus. For a decade she worked as a medical analyst in a variety of institutions. Before the outbreak of the civil war in Syria, she started studying literature, but her studies were cut short due to the conflict. She was involved in helping the victims. In 2016 she published her debut volume entitled Resztki motyla/Remains of a butterfly. Currently, she is working on her second book of poetry. Since March 2017 she has been staying in Krakow, taking advantage of a grant of the ICORN Cities of Refuge Network programme for writers and writers who, due to persecution, cannot live and create in their own homeland.
