Krystyna Dąbrowska


(born in 1979)

Poet, translator, essayist. A trained graphic designer, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Author of poetry volumes Biuro podróży (2006), Białe krzesła (2012), Czas i przesłona (2014), Ścieżki dźwiękowe (2018). Winner of the Kościelski Award (2013) and Wisława Szymborska Award (2013). Her poems have been translated into several languages and published in foreign literary magazines (including Harper’s Magazine, The Threepenny Review, Ploughshares, The Los Angeles Review, Akzente, Sinn und Form, Manuskripte). She also writes critical sketches, published in Literatura na Świecie, Kwartalnik Artystyczny, Kultura Liberalna. She translated poems by W. C. Williams, W.B. Yeats, Thomas Hardy, Thomas Gunn, Charles Simic, Kim Moore, letters from Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell, and many more. In 2017 a selection of her poems was published in Italian: La faccia del mio vicino translated by Leonardo Masi, followed by a German release in 2018: Austausch der Fenster translated by Renate Schmidgall. She lives and works in Warsaw.
