Poet, editor and translator from Tulsa (Oklahoma). In middle school, Padgett established “The White Dove Review”, an avant-garde journal where he and his colleagues published such authors as Allen Ginsberg and Robert Creeley.

Padgett is the author of more than 20 poetry books i.a. Great Balls of Fire (1969, reissued in 1990); You Never Know (2001); How to Be Perfect (2007); How Long (2011). He also wrote four poems for Jim Jarmusch’s “Paterson”. Apart from poems, he also published many collections of prose i.a.: Blood Work: Selected Prose (1993), Ted: A Personal Memoir of Ted Berrigan (1993) and The Straight Line: Writing on Poetry and Poets (2000).

Lives in New York.
