Romanian poet and translator. She made her debut in 1994 in a collective volume entitled Family Portrait/Tablou de familie with T.O. Bobe, Răzvan Rădulescu, Mihai Ignat, Sorin Gherguț and Caesar Paul-Bădescu. Her individual debut (Flower in a Vise/Floarea de Menghină, 2008) brought her numerous awards, including the Romanian Writers’ Union Prize, the România literară magazine award, the Mihai Eminescu National Poetry Award and the Radio România Cultural award for poetry. The volume was also published in Sweden, translated by poet Athena Farrokhzad (2013). Her subsequent releases include Gravity/Gravitație (2015) and Trado, released in Sweden together with Athena Farrokhzad (2016). The poems by Svetlana Cârstean are translated into many languages. For five years, the poet ran her own publishing series (Living Poets’ Association/CerculPoeților Apăruți) at the Pandora M publishing house, and since autumn 2016, she has been coordinating the new Vorpal poetry collection at the Nemira publishing house.
