Hinemoana Baker | Miłosz Festival

Poet and performer who traces her Māori ancestry from tribes in both the North and South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. Her poetry collections, original music albums and other sonic and written work have seen her on stages and pages in many countries around world for the last 20 years. Reviewers have embraced her work since she began writing and publishing in the mid-1990s. One commentator says: ‘Hinemoana Baker…explores transient spaces, [both] physical and psychological, with a sharp, enigmatic humour and deep warmth.’ (95bFM). Her most recent collection, ‘Funkhaus’, has just been released as a bilingual edition (English/German, translated by Ulrike Almut Sandig) by Voland & Quist | AZUR Edition in Berlin.
