Miguel Rodríguez Monteavaro

Miguel Rodríguez Monteavaro (Bual, Asturias, Spain, 1990) is a poet, musician and PhD in Asturian linguistics from the University of Oviedo, where he works as a professor of Hispanic Philology. He has published several books of poetry: Trenta razóis pra nun medrar (Trabe, 2010), Todos os tristes de mayo (Trabe, 2013), Poemas pr’amantes y paquidermos (Trabe, 2013), superpoderes (Government of the Principality of Asturias, Asturian Youth Institute, Trabe, 2020) and the bilingual Oi, que dice mamá que volvas/Hey, mom says come back (Government of the Principality of Asturias, Impronta, 2023). He has also won several literary awards, public competitions and residencies such as the XIX Premiu de Poesía Padre Galo (2012), Asturias Joven de Poesía (2019), I Premio Ría del Eo de Poesía (2021), Residencia Asturies (2021) and Residencia Artes Escénicas Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura (2022), among others. In addition, in 2023, with the children’s work Breve inventario dos seres escondidos and with the poetry collection Tondó (still unpublished), he won a grant for Literary Creation from the Government of the Principality of Asturias and first place in the grants for Literary Creators from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, respectively.

Rodríguez Monteavaro is the coordinator and director of the QED Poetry Cycle, the only poetry cycle that exists regularly in Asturias and which brings together poets from all over Europe every year.

His poems, originally written in Galician and Asturian, have been translated into Spanish, English, Chinese, Swedish, Canarian, Occitan and French.
