Ur. w 1959 roku. Autor ośmiu tomów poetyckich. Jest finalistą The National Book Award za tomy Archeophonics, In Defense of Nothing: Selected Poems 1987–2011 oraz Treshold Songs. W 2020 roku opublikował dwie nowe książki: Now It’s Dark i Sky Burial: New & Selected Poems. Zdobywca Lavan Younger Poet Award, stypendysta The Rex Foundation, The Howard Foundation, The Foundation for Contemporary Arts, The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Dwukrotny stypendysta The Judith E. Wilson Visiting Fellowship. Pracuje na Uniwersytecie w Massachusetts Amherst.
